Image Wrap Text Options in Google Docs

KB-915

Solution

Problem or Question:

How do I change how text wraps around my picture in Google Docs?

Environment:

Google Documents

Solution or Answer:

Step 1. After you insert your picture, click on it.

Step 2. Near the bottom of the image, you will see an option for In line or Wrap Text. The selected option is in black.

In Line - the image is placed like text "in line" with text from your document. It will behave like text -- as you add or subtract words and lines, the image will move around the page, just as words within a certain paragraph do. This is similar to the "Wrap Text - In line with Text" option in MS Word.

Wrap Text - (formerly known as "Fixed" in GoogleApps) words will wrap on all sides around the image. This is similar to the "Wrap Text - Square" option in MS Word.

Troubleshooting:

After you have resized or moved an image several times, the "In line | Wrap text" option may not appear. If that occurs you may have to delete the existing image and reinsert again.

For additional information please visit these sites where the "Wrap Text" option is referred to as Fixed position.
