When I copy and paste data into Blackboard my data may not display at all or displays improperly.
Using a text editor such as Notepad (PC) or TextEdit (Mac) will minimize this issue.
Step 1. Open Microsoft Windows Notepad. Copy the text from your source and paste it into Notepad.
Step 2. Copy the text in Notepad and paste it into Blackboard.
Step 3. Make your formatting changes in Blackboard's Text Editor.
Step 4. Click Submit.
Note: You can also save the file as text in Notepad and upload it as an attachment in Blackboard.
Step 1. Open TextEdit.
Step 2. Choose Preferences. Select “Open and Save.”
Step 3. Click the checkbox labeled “Add ‘.txt’ extension to plain text files” under When Saving a File:
Step 4. Close the Preferences window.
Step 5. Copy the data from your source and paste it into the TextEdit window.
Step 6. Click Format, Make Plain Text, OK
Step 7. Copy the text in TextEdit and Paste it directly into Blackboard.
Step 8. Make your formatting changes in Blackboard's Text Editor.
Step 9. Click Submit.
You can also save the file as text in TextEdit and upload it as an attachment in Blackboard.
Step 1. Click File, Save As
Step 2. Type in the filename. The file extension .txt is added to the filename. Click Save.
HTML formatting codes do not display properly in Blackboard's Text Editor so you must use a plain text editor.
