I have Adobe Acrobat Pro installed but every time I open a .pdf file it opens in Adobe Reader.

Step 1. You may be required to restart your computer after this process so save and close all your files and programs.
Step 2. Open Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Step 3. On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
Step 4. In the Preferences Categories, select General.
Step 5. At the bottom of the page click Select Default PDF Handler.
Step 6. In the Select Adobe Product drop down, select Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Step 7. Apply.
Step 8. Wait while your computer is configured. This may take several minutes.
Step 9. Restart your computer if prompted to do so or click OK to close the Preferences window.
