My NetID isn't working on my Macintosh computer.

Solution or Answer

  1. Unplug the Network cable from the computer.
  2. Log on with a NetID account that has previously logged on to the computer.
  3. When you are at the Macintosh desktop and all is well, then plug the network cable back in.

Cause

If the workstation has lost its association with the network domain, which can happen for a variety of reasons, then the Active Directory domain controller server will not recognize the user. However, many Macintosh workstations are configured to create a mobile account for each user and the user can log on with cached credentials by unplugging the computer from the network.
